The Armour of Galding the Runesmith

The dwarf wearing it evokes respect almost universally and his skill with the Runes is always appreciated.
- Lame Warrior The armour, despite the fact that is comfortable for everyday wear and does not impede movement during simple handiwork thanks
to the half-soft belly part, is none too good for quick combat. The wearer can wear the armour for K6+2 hours more, as compared to other armour sets,
but it bestows a penalty of -1 to all his attack and defence rolls.
I encourage you to take a look at the armour from two points of view. Firstly, admire the overall shape and appearance,
appreciate the broad dwarven shoulders and the perfect barrel-like belly. This shape was not easy to achieve, I assure you.
Secondly, take a closer look at the details of the armour and appreciate the smaller runic engravings under the trimmings.
The edges of the shoulder-pieces are decorated with green ornaments. There are also amulets with diminutive dwarven emblems and hammers.
The anvil symbols, as well as the hammer, are decorated in a vein similar to the rest of the armour.
I have designed, especially for this armour set, an axe (crafted by Mind-Forge.de). It’s decorations and shape match that of the entire armour set.
The butt of the hammer has the same carvings as the trimmings of the armour.
The set includes, probably just for the purpose of showing off and boasting about, a simple pair of goggles with one-layer sun protection (mediaeval sunglasses, you know…)
The dwarf in the pictures is the owner of the armour set himself, Galding.

The Armour of Eric the Dwarf

- Ready for Battle – the armour can be put on in about 30 seconds (one-piece vest and a belt).
This ensures that the dwarf owning it is not very likely to be taken by surprise in case of a night ambush.
- (Non-)Cautious Orc – the armour looks nasty, though it does not offer very good protection.
This makes the dwarf inspire respect – every opponent will hesitate before attacking him
(the attacker looses the initiative).
At last finished and ready… you’ve certainly been waiting long for this one but the effect of many long hours of work is positively astonishing.
The armour of Eric the dwarf. This is the biggest project I have undertaken so far, at least in terms of effort and money invested.
The armour, as was mentioned earlier on, is soft in the upper body part. The jacket of the armour is flexible,
with hard plates attached to it. In creating this armour, I have used tooling on such great a scale for the first time.
The plates of the armour were decorated with the use of this technique – and this, I assure you, consumed huge amounts of work.
Also, all the runes were stamped – as well as the two dragons, which were afterwards painted.
The technology of stamping by hand has many stages and is very tiresome, believe me it is.
The armour has numerous hidden adjustment systems. The brassards (shoulder pieces, pauldrons) consist of two parts –
they can be used both with or without chain mail sleeves. The height of the fastening of the sleeves is also adjustable.
The shoulder pieces themselves can be moved forward and backward. The shoulder straps of the armour can be lifted slightly,
thus making the armour fit someone a little bit bigger.
Additionally, the armour has two adjustment systems at its sides for making it match the obesity level of the wearer ;)
and is fastened by means of buttons, to ensure that it can be put on fast. There are three different sets of buttons available.
Of course, those can be replaced without sewing or riveting… they have their own separate lacing system.
The belt has an adjustment system at the back of the armour and it is fastened at the front with a big hook.
The belt also supports numerous pockets and chain mail elements attached to it –
it’s not a problem to put the whole belt on with one swift move.
The shield with the dragon on the left is removable.
It is additionally reinforced and it is quite a massive piece.
But, when the wearer raises his arm the shield reaches almost above his head, protecting it quite well.
The shield can be used when fighting with two-handed weapons but it has been designed for being used with a separate shield.
The sleeves and certain fragments of chain mail skirt are reinforced and stiffened so that they maintain their shape
while hanging loosely. The armour has numerous trimmings stuffed with soft wadding –
which makes it both comfortable and show-off-able ;) The rings of the chain mail are made of aluminium with galvanic layer –
light and nice. The axe in the pictures was made by Mind-forge.

Pierwsze wrażenie może sugerować super wykwalifikowanego żebraka weterana - co w ostateczności jest alternatywą dla tego kostiumu.
Jednakże główny temat to "przeszedłem świat wzdłuż i wszerz i skąpiłem na noclegu w karczmie". Oprócz kilku wesołych kieszonek na widoku znajduje się wewnątrz płaszcza jeszcze
kilka dodatkowych, zupełnie ukrytych (nie widać ich na zdjęciach)
Płaszcz jest dość ciepły ale można go nosić bez rękawów, ba! rękawy można całkowicie odwiązać. W dodatku do płaszcza jest mały talizman z różą wiatrów, pomaga odnaleźć się w terenie.
Wszelkie rozdarcia płaszcza, kamizeli i kapelusza są od wewnątrz podklejone i zabezpieczone przed dalszym rozdzieraniem - nawet w szmatławych klimatach utrzymujemy jakość i dajemy gwarancję :)
Drobna kieszonka na kapeluszu jest zdolna pomieścić jednego michałka (nie pytajcie co się z nim dzieje po 15 minutach chodzenia w słońcu)

Orc Chieftain Armour

- Brute - the armour is rough and tough, you don’t have to bother about branches and other smaller obstacles
[Halflings? Goblins? Nay problem, sir. – translator’s note] while travelling through a forest.
- Second Hide - the armour is well-adjusted to be worn constantly. The padding keeps the wearer warm and the fur makes a perfect mattress when the orc sleeps.
Skrag found weal-thi dwarf. Had large sack. Skrag gives hand-full of jewels and a dwarf-ass steak (veiny and tough, good for the teeth though –
just watch for the hair because, hehe, dwarfs have furry assess) to Farmer.
Farmer makes Skrag good armour! The armour must be WAAAAAAGH!!! or Skrag gets Farmer balls and pulls ‘em through his ears.
Farmer, not thinking too long, as he valued his balls greatly, invented a cunning plan to please the orc and create the armour cheaply, as the money sack of the late dwarf was not that great.
He crafted the armour of leather and made it look as if it was made of steel.
He additionally reinforced the inside of the armour with a thick felt layer which increased the thickness of the armour to 1.5 centimetres in some places.
Thanks to this, the armour is somewhat stiff and very durable. Farmer took the fleece of a ram and covered the collar-bone area with soft leather (For extra protection;
we all know that orcs have very delicate and sensitive skin, don’t we?).
Farmer made the armour suitable to be put on swiftly and in few moves. Only one move is required to put on the entire arm and shoulder pieces, and the breastplate is attached to them.
Then the wearer has to fasten some three buckles – et voila, the orc is ready for battle.
The big piece protecting the mandible can be removed. Actually, it can be taken off the armour and used as protection for the knee!
You can wear it there, fastening it around your neck only when you need extra protection of the region.

Morph’s Vest – Mage/Priest

- Shifting Class - the wearer uses skills and attributes of several races and professions, confusing the enemy.
The armour may suggest the wearer is: an elf, human/wizard, druid, priest, bard, rogue/half-fiend
The armour itself does not modify the Charisma attribute, but it allows the wearer to choose what type of impression he wants to make. +5 to one chosen effect.
The vest in itself seems simple but the set includes strips for carrying a book. This is actually an independent detail.
Scroll tube is another nice detail of this type – it is made of gathered leather and is very durable, while at the same time sporting unique and somewhat chaotic design.
The set also includes some additional leaves (they are not in the pictures), to which leaves a cloak can be attached.
Thanks to this the cloak can be quickly fastened to the brass rings of the vest.
The mysterious-looking set of small loops on the back serves a certain purpose. They can be used for attaching daggers or throwing knives, as the loops include press snaps.
Their diameter is adjustable and the pattern in which they surround the waist can also be slightly adjusted. Moreover, they can be attached in both parallel or perpendicular way,
which fact makes it possible to attach a scabbard for a small yet graceful sword at the back. (Yeah, and all this is sooo functional ;P).
Did I mention that the main belt at the back can be arranged diagonally to both left and right? Well, I do mention it now.
The back of the vest has adjustable ribbing and ventilation holes right beneath it.

Wood Elf Worrior

- Rustling of the Leaves – the armour allows moving stealthily in forest thickets and remaining unseen while not moving.
- Hunting Panther – the armour increases the warrior’s chance of capturing a foe he is pursuing. Every time the victim turns around, the armour prevents him or her from estimating the distance from and the position of the warrior. The small throwing knives on the vambrace serve the warrior perfectly well in such situations.

This armour is one of the unlucky sets which refuse to acknowledge that they are already finished and which remain unwanted
for a long time. It has waited for being realized and ordered for almost a year. The vambraces are based on the “Dunedain’
ones but they have been coloured to fit the rest of the set.
Painting is the essence of this set. The whole set has been painted by hand, to ensure soft passing between brown and green.
Colouring the set was very difficult and time-consuming – you never know what exactly happens with paint that penetrates the
leather ;) (they soak the leather deep and it is impossible to say, until they dry, what the intensity of the colour is).
The armour could hardly be classified as one granting good protection. The one-piece shoulders are quite comfortable and they
do not diminish the fighting abilities of the wearer. The waist is “soft’ and the belt is not covered by anything,
which makes fighting and sneaking as easy and comfortable as it has never been before.
However, the number of lacings and some technological solutions make this set of armour very hard (at least alone)
and tiresome to put on. The inner jerkin can function as an independent piece of clothing and can be used in other sets of armour.
This same is true about the belt or the vambraces.

Bardzo nietypowy pancerz w porównaniu do pozostałych.
Zwykle decyduję się na wykonanie pancerza ze skór garbowanych chromowo jeśli fundusze są naprawdę niewielkie (jak w przypadku zestawów
1st-level), tutaj została ona użyta w całym kostiumie. Obniżyło to znacznie koszty i pozwoliło zrobić spory kawał
pancerza na kobiete wojowniczkę. Ściśle opinający gorset, duże falbankowe taszki, asymetryczne naramienniki, wszystkie dają przyzwoitą
ochronę, nie oszałamiającą ale jednak.
Maska wykonana z nieco cieńszej i lżejszej skóry, spore wizury w masce dają dobrą widoczność,
jednak z kontrolą nóg i podłoża jest gorzej - widoczność dolnej strefy jest mocno ograniczona.

A quilted vest perfect for a thief. It is not too thick but, a
s the two layers of leather and wadding have been quilted by handiwork, hard enough for the wearer
to feel comfortable while receiving severe blows (of foam-blunted swords).
The left side of the vest is better protected, broader and with brassard of steel. If a buckler is added to this –
that’s perfect light defence. The kidneys are also covered with steel, lest our valiant rogue should receive a
blow unto them during one of his frequent escapes. ;P
This set ofers much in details from the first sketch of it. This is mainly due to joyous improvisation,
which accompanied me throughout the work. Also, the difference is in the additions, such as throwing darts,
eventually used. Originally they were supposed to be made of steel, and placed here and there on the vest.
Then special “safe” throwing knives and a dagger, made with the use of foam and latex, replaced the steel ones.
Those final version additions were made by an excellent German producer
www.mind-forge.de.
The projects for all the weapons were mine, though.
As is fitting of a rogue/con artist the multipocketer has numerous pockets/bags, hidingplaces,
straps and holes eyelets (with metal fittings) for attaching various paraphernalia and talismans (potions etc.).
The whole set of armour can be taken to pieces any time you want. Every detail may be removed, every bag untied... Ha!,
even the collar can be taken off – to create a “summer version.” of the vest ;P
The brass lockpick set placed on the left bracer is a slightly exaggerated and infantile version of real sets of this kind.
Included in the set of armour are also all the straps that are on the photos and the carrier for the dagger and throwing knives.
In the future “multipocketer, economic version” is planned. ;)

Mage’s Iron Hand (Jade Mistress)

- Tough chick – regardless of charisma and skills of the wearer, he or she leaves an impression of being a severe wizard with temperament.
This piece is for a wizard, a woman both proud and brave. It evokes respect and does provide some small level of protection,
despite the fact that it consists of few elements. It catches the eye and improves the image of the Mage. Appearances to the
contrary, the set is quite comfortable. There is no problem in manipulating the arm, moving it upwards and forward. The wrist
has a cuff made of very soft leather. Only having the arms fully outstretched (arms in the shape of the letter “T’) is somewhat
uncomfortable for the wearer.
There are several subtle runes by the wrist, the upper arm and the shoulder. They are not very conspicuous from afar –
yet they look very nice from smaller distance.
Painting the flames took half of the work devoted to the entire set. It was all monotonous mucking the thing up with watercolours.
After this, the colours were secured by adding several layers of wax-oil and ‘finished’ by impregnating with wax spread.

Przyzwoity kawałek larpowej zbroi, taki mały klasyk rangera. Tym razem dla Niziołka, małego szczwanego skubańca o wszędobylskim nosie.
Zbroja może być jeszcze rozbudowana o ciekawe motywy zdobnicze ponieważ jest wykonana ze skóry roślinnie garbowanej - jest to wersja prosta.
Nagolennice z pewnością pomagają podczas przedzierania się przez jeżyny a rozmiar pancerza (sięga do tali) pozwala na dość swobodne kucanie i kulenie się (dobre przy ukrywaniu się)
Poza tym dla każdego niziołka ważną rzeczą jest by brzuszek miał swobodę bo obiadek musi się uleżeć przecież. ( A tym że brzuszek nie jest chroniony zajmie się już sama Esmeralda :D )

Rzadko zgadzam się na wykonanie prostego pancerza, to jest wyjątek. Niemniej jednak włożyliśmy trochę pracy w wykończenie płytek.
Są wykrawędziowane. Paski skrzętnie ukryte pod płytkami. Kilka kółek dla ozdoby i kilka praktycznych do zawieszenia sakiewki.
Pancerz jest bardzo wygodny i łatwy w noszeniu. Nastręcza jednak trochę dyskomfortu ze względu na szpiczastość płytek -
tendencja do zaczepiania się o odzież, i pojedyncze nitki itp.
Swoboda ruchu jednak to rekompensuje.

Drow Armor

Second full armour on offer. This time it is for a drow, a fallen elf of night and murder.
Sharp shapes and black hue accentuate the sadness and the gloom and the delicate ornaments fit the elves,
a race of small and fragile beings, perfectly well.
You know, it’s all soooo gloomy and ‘emo’ ;>
The armour has several weak points, though. The shoulders are indubitably beautiful and give the whole armour its character –
yet they are not too practical in case of using two-handed weapons. This same is
not true in case of other armours.
A fantasy armour can have giant pauldrons and still retain full mobility. A good example is the Dragon Armour which has
incredible freedom of movement, appearances to the contrary.
Drows wearing this armour would have to limit themselves to fighting with either two small weapons or a weapon and a shield.
Two-handed weapons are out of the question – and they are too unelvish anyway ;) Apart from that small flaw, the armour
is incredibly comfortable. Most of the big elements are either very hard or extremely hard. ;> No loss of shape is possible
(not with this type of leather) and several elements protecting arms and chest have steel reinforcing pieces for maintaining
their shape.
Here and there I have taken care to include small yet meaningful details contributing to the tone of the whole set – hence the false fangs at the ends of the brassards. The surface of the armour is covered in patterns. And here a note is required – those are not painted or sewn in/sticked. They have all been engraved. Engraving is a very durable technique of ornamenting – an engraved pattern leaves a permanent trail an is practically indestructible due to this – it cannot be erases, painted or damage in any other accidental way.

Phewww...finally, it’s done.
It took a long time.... whole three weeks or something... placed over 10 months.. :P
The whole armour is perfect for it’s protective purposes. It’s very strong.
Made of thick, strong leather, which has been hardened. In addition, the linings and
various elements placed in a scale-like manner make it even more durable. What is more...
many loosely – attached elements make it comfortable to move in.
The abdomen and the lower back are in segments and enables you to bend forward and backwards.
Moreover the belt with
small tassets attached to it is a completely loose part, which results in full comfort while
twisting your body.
As opposed to the popular opinion that pauldron limit your movements, these ones don’t.
I took care of that : ) They’re light and stay in place thanks to the two-point fixing to the body.
You can even do an armstand position in it... yep..yes, you can... here’s:

Dragon Armour Helmet

- If the helmet is worn together with the armour, the set looses its Handsome One feature – the helmet has long wings which look like donkey’s ears.
It is a pity that the helmet was created so late, almost two years after the Dragon Armour.
It is, however, made with the use of the same technology and has the same protective/esthetic value.
The cap of the helmet is a little bit softer and the wings and the facial piece are definitely harder.

Dark Elf Priest Armor

- My shoelaces came undone, slave! – a slave is needed for maintenance of the armour, particularly at the lower levels.
Despite the fact that the armour is flexible and leaves its wearer a lot of freedom of movement in combat, it makes bowing low quite impossible.
The part of the armour surrounding the waist is just too stiff, sorry. [Nevermind this, drows bow before no one! – translator’s note]
This is the first of the “First Level” cheap armour sets. For not much money you get a full torso piece. It surely is quite simple and none too sophisticated;
there are no unnecessary decorations – but hey, it’s cheap.
The armour is not very hard, its thickness is 3.5 mm maximum. It is a little bit more stiff at its joints (for example around the breast, making the armour retain its shape there).
The leather used for the armour is completely waterproof. Whether it’s rain, mud, or the Pacific – the armour can take it, and survive. [This warranty does not include the contents
of the armour. ;) – translator’s note]
Armours like this one can be ordered in any of monochromatic colours: black, brown or red. There is also a special hue available: super-duper-ultra-gothic black. ;)

Niby prosty pancerz ale jednak urozmaicony. Bardzo dużo ostrych krawędzi, cały kształt modelowany jest z długich pasów. Jak to bywa
ze zbrojami 1st-level'owymi - mają słabą przepuszczalność wody i ciepła co często owocuje obfitym poceniem się, ale przy Szermierzu
efekt ten jest nieco złagodzony przez dużą ilość wyciętych otworów i szpar.
Podstawową cechą pancerza miała być mobilność w walce dwuręczną bronią, toteż użyliśmy jednopunktowego mocowania opach w naramiennikach.
Pozwala to na bardzo swobodne poruszanie rękoma w przód i w górę. Pas stanowi osobną część zbroi więc talia jest wolna i pozwala na
swobodne skręcanie się. Obojczyk z kołnierzem jest zupełnie niezależny...... może być odwiązany.

Bo niektóre rzeczy można zrobić jeszcze prościej :)
Zbroja jest przykładem cięcia kosztów pracy by obniżyć cenę a jednak tak rozwiązać konstrukcję by pokazać coś ładnego.
Naramienniki mocowane 3 punktowo (absolutnie niewygodne ale reprezentatywne) Tudzież można zamocować dwu lub jednopunktowo co może nieco poprawić ruchliwość.
Mało mocowań i regulacji - zbroja przód i tył można odwiązać, a same naramienniki nie posiadają mocowań do rąk (brak opachy).
